Emerging technologies are allowing designers to become increasingly
creative in enriching the Interaction between the user and computing
environments. New interaction technologies and interface capabilities
for software and web design are giving rise to a host of new issues.
In this research, we highlight the issues arising from the following
three questions:
- Are usability concerns fundamentally different when the interface
is more than simply a graphical user interface with the building
blocks being primarily windows, icons, menus and pointing devices
(WIMP)?
- What are the usability issues when the interface poses a potential
conflict between the human need for free artistic expression and
the usability goals of reducing the effort to learn and perform
a task?
- Do multi-participant interactive environments give rise to a
different set of usability questions than our experience has been
with one-on-one interfaces?
